The heartbeat of this network is to connect, inspire and encourage YWAM worship leaders and teams across the globe.

Our focus is to call the nations to worship, as individual worshippers or in teams, through training, outreach ministries and shared opportunities.

 

This site will be used to provide resources, advertise schools and seminars, share prayer requests and praise reports, and to help those involved in YWAM worship ministries find a place to fellowship with others in worship ministry. Please feel free to 'Submit' your events (schools, seminars, etc.) so that people can get involved.

There is a growing sense that we need to gather, re-focus, and press forward in our mission now more than ever. With this in our hearts we are planning an international gathering for all School of Worship leaders and emerging leaders.

Many of you joined us for the SOW "DNA" gatherings in the past couple years, others of you only heard about them and wished you'd been there, too. All of us longed for more time and to meet the rest of our "tribe" so that we could get a sense of what God is saying to us for this coming season. God has already spoken to YWAM that there is a new wave of missions coming and He has also been known to send out His worshippers to prepare the way for the rest of His people to enter the land and His promises.

Now is the time!

When we were seeking the Lord about when and where we could gather, the YWAM family in Chennai, India welcomed us and will be our hosts for these four history-making days. The School of Worship is developing in several locations on this sub-continent: Chennai, Lonavala, Delhi, Coimbatore, and Nepal with more to come. Coming to Chennai will be an investment into the SOW in India as well as in the entire region. It will be a time of impartation, a time of release, a time of fellowship, and a time to listen to God, but most of all it is a time to gather from the four corners of the earth and worship our King together.

Please talk with your local base leadership about helping make it possible for you to attend this International SOW DNA gathering; it is an investment into your own UofN training programs because of what you'll be able to take back home with you from these meetings. Kevin Norris (College of Christian Ministries), Belinda van de Loo (College of Arts & Sports), Pete Sifuentes (long-term SOW leader from YWAM Montana, USA), and Bob & Kathy Fitts (Founders of the SOW) are all hoping to be present at this event. Presently we have over 30 SOW's world-wide in over 25 countries that are being invited to this event - we plan to celebrate Him as the nations gather!

We are each paying our own way to get there so we will definitely keep the costs on site as low as possible (more about that soon). It's "only" 4 days because there are a number of SOW's scheduled at that time so we wanted to make it possible for SOW leaders to leave their school in the hands of their staff for those days. With so many people coming to India there will also be individual opportunities for you to minister at different locations, if you're interested. We're hoping that SOW leaders and teams in India could plan some seminars and/or connect with local church fellowships for all those teaching and ministry gifts!

Please pray about joining us in Chennai in October because it won't be the same without your involvement. It will cost you money and time, but we believe God is calling His tribe of worshippers together to speak to us. Let's rise up in faith and believe Him together for this!

Essential Elements of a School of Worship

(SOW int’l meeting in L.A., Feb 2001, reaffirmed in SOW Int’l meeting in Holland, June 2002)

 

The purpose of the SOW is

to multiply effective worship leaders and teams for ministry and missions.

 

Heart

1          Knowing God and His heart; passion for God, intimacy with God, the nature and character of God.

2          How we relate to each other,  the lifestyle of the worship leader, character of the worship leader; servanthood, reality and openness

3          Work of the Holy Spirit

 

Head

4          Biblical and historical basis of worship

5          Intercession, spiritual warfare, prophetic nature of worship

6          Teamwork, leadership development

 

Hands

7          Musicianship, creativity, songwriting

8          Missions: redeeming cultures; the place of worship in the nations

 

(These are 8 foundational values and principles and should comprise 70% of any SOW.)

 

SOW graduates:

1. Should have a life experience of the nature + character of God.  Should have an ongoing passion for the Lord which will motivate their ministry and characterize their life.
2. Should have a genuine life of integrity, one who walks in freedom, servanthood, demonstrating godly character qualities of faith.
3. Should be able to flow with and release the gifts and work of the Holy Spirit.  Knowing what is of God and what is of themselves.
4. Should be able to understand and teach a biblical basis of worship.  Understanding the relevance of history and be able to apply that today.
5. Should be one who understands and participates in the ministry of intercession as well as the sp.forces, a nd a growing understanding of what worship can achieve in the spiritual realm.  Can understand and hear the voice of the Lord.
6. Should be able to work in a team and lead people into the presence of the Lord in the context of the worship team and in the gathering.
7. Should be progressing in their musical understanding and skills. Should have an understanding of the songwriting process and be able to stimulate that in others ... as well as growing in creative expressions.
8. Should have a heart for the nations, redeeming the cultures and seeing the nations come to worship.

This 3 month course gives students interested in leadingothers into worship by singing, playing instruments, and dance an opportunityto grow in their personal worship and worship leading.

Emphases include: 

·        Passion for God

·        Character and lifestyle of the worshipper

·        The work of the Holy Spirit in worship

·        Biblical and historical basis for worship

·        Leadership and teamwork

·        How worship relates to intercession, the prophetic, spiritual warfare

·        Creativity and musicianship

·        Worship in missions and evangelism
